Jerry's Story
From my days as a midshipman at the U.S. Naval Academy, I've been blessed with several successful careers: first as a bank President/CEO, wherein I was privileged to serve my communities with pride and dignity. As an industry leader throughout my various business ventures, I strived to 'set the standard' with my entrepreneurial spirit and a strong desire to succeed. One noteworthy achievement during my eighteen years in the banking industry includes being the youngest bank President in the State of California of a non-minority owned institution, as well as serving on the Board of Directors' executive committee for the California Thrift and Loan Association.
Upon relocation to the Pacific Northwest, I decided to "become my own boss", and fulfilled one of my childhood dreams...that of owning a community tavern/sports pub where friends could meet and have a great time together. As owner/operator of Daman's Tavern, in Redmond, WA, I carried on the traditional motto of the original owner: "Great Food, Great Service, Great Tavern." My efforts were rewarded by being featured in various news articles, being touted as the 'CHEERS' of the Eastside. Daman's was also recognized by Eastside Magazine as the voter's choice for Sports Bar of the Year! Truth be told - I never worked so hard in all-my-life! Another great experience, and yet after five years of breathing in secondhand smoke, my lungs (and my personal physician during one of my annual physical exams) told me it was time for a change!
Drawing upon my banking background and business acumen, I decided to get licensed as a real estate broker in 1994, eventually becoming an owner at RE/MAX Northwest Realtors, operating the largest franchise in the State of Washingto...Expand for more
n with seven offices and over 350 active agents. I was looked to as a leader among my colleagues and served in the capacity of the company's President as well as being a Director for the Puget Sound's primary Board of Realtors. As an industry spokesman, I've been featured locally on television, radio, and in newsprint! Not bad for a 'country hick' from Franklinville, N.J, eh?
Currently, I am doing some consulting work as well as remaining involved in the real estate industry as a professional REALTOR. As a matter of fact, I recently was privileged to be named REALTOR of the Year by our local Association. In 2014, I also have the honor to serve as the President of the Everett Community College Foundation Board of Directors which supports the educational goals and objectives of some of our future business leaders. And...in 2015 I am serving as the Treasurer for the WA REALTOR Association, with more than 15,000 active members. Also, I am a proud sponsor of the Susan G. Komen cancer research foundation...one of the most worthy causes to commit to!
Way too young to retire, I'm simply choosing to be a little less active. I suppose some might call it semi-retirement, but that too makes me feel old...so forget about that!
Everything being said however, I recognize and truly appreciate that the 'stock root' of my adult life reaches back to the many great teachers, coaches, counselors and most importantly...great friends and classmates there at good old Delsea Regional H.S. and that Crusader Spirit. I remain eternally thankful for such a wonderful life that so many of you have touched and became a part of!
Now, my life's mission/motto is real simple: "Live to love and Love to live!" What's yours?
Ciao,
Jerry
