Jerry's Story

Life OK,Here goes. What I've been up to since high school. After H.S. I went to MATC got married and went to work as an apprentice glazier at Lurie Glass in Milw.We have two kids that where born in this time period (Jeff now 32,Jeni now 29) Got tired of the cold in Milw and moved to Colorado in 1973 and have been here ever since.Started my own glass business in 1976 and ran that until 91. Got divorced in 1981(probably one of lifes biggest mistakes)Anyway, got into real estate in Denver and did pretty well intil the economy went south in the mid 80'(thats when I had one of my first epiphanies that money can't buy happiness -its nice but you can be poor and happy) So after losing nearly everything I decided to go back to school and get my undergrad degree. I graduated in 1994 and tried to figure out what I wanted to do.When in school I majored in History and Education so it seemed natural that I'd try teaching. I did my student teaching at a school that I knew nothing about, but since it w...Expand for more
as close to my house I thought it would work. This turned out to be one of the really good moves in my life. The school Jefferson County Open School os an experiential learning school thst stresses holistic education. It is a wonderful place with dedicated teachers and kids that like to come to school(did I mention that we have no grades, but portfolios). So, that kinda brings us up to date.I had one more child a daughter ,Allie , now almost 15- (going on 25. )I share my life with Mary ,Herby and Areatha (our dogs) Even though now when I look in the mirror I see this old bald headed guy, I still try to stay in shape . I run(several marathons incuding NY twice) ski, play basketball with a bunch of old farts, bike, lift, play softball(old farts young women)and finally golf the real old farts game.I've discovered that learning is a life long pursuit and to stop learning is akin to death. I could go on philosophizing, but your probably sleeping all ready. I just hope Ms. Crowley would approve
