Jerry's Story
Graduated January 1972 from NLU. Went into the Army for 6 1/2 years. Army Ranger with 101st Airborne for 2 1/2 years. One year in Korea. Married Ouachita Lion in 1972 (should have known it would not work out). Came back to Monroe in 1978 and worked at Standard Enterprises, Monroe Sand and Gravel and Binswanger Glass until mid 1988. Three children, 2 girls and a boy. Went to Panama 10 times staring in 1983 with Louisiana National Guard. Last tour was 1988/89. Then started working overseas on U.S. embassies in 1990. Such garden spots as New Delhi, Guangzauo, China, Nairobi and Pristina, Kosovo. But also managed Rome, Athens, Tel Aviv and a few others. Along the way became avid scuba diver and island nut. laysia, Lombok among many others. Switched to DOD projects in 2001 and started cutting up Russian ICBMs in Ukraine. Then moved to Perm, Russia in 2002 to do the same. Stayed there till early 2007. Currently in Baku, Azerbaijan installing nuclear material monitors for DOE on border crossings and ports. Divorced in 1994. Have one grandson living in Flower Mound, Texas. My son was a Marine and served 2 tours in Iraqi. He is out now and working off-shore in the Gulf. Married 2nd wife in Kona, Hawaii March 2007. Have a house on Lake Darbonne that I do not get to enjoy nearly as much as I would like. Since last update I am now working in Estonia on same type DOE project. Arrived October 2008 and expect to work here until August 2012. Then RETIRE! Update. I now have a new son born 5 November 2010.
