School
I enjoyed my high school years and met many people because I attended 4 different high schools. In the 9th grade I started at Mancelona but after about a month we moved to Grand Rapids and I attended Grand Rapids Central HS as a freshman. We moved to the outskirts and I attended Kentwood High School in my sop...Expand for more
homore year. Moved back north and attended Mancelona as a junior and then when my family moved near Rapid City, I attended and graduated from Kalkaska HS. My memories of high school include playing football at all 4 high schools and the comraderie among teammates, partying hard with Frank, Steve, Dave, Joe, Gene, Jack, and so many others, dating (primarily Wendy), dances at the Tanz in TC (Jeanne, Sharilyn, and others), getting voted biggest flirt(along with Pat Dodge) in our senior year, and making many life long friends. I wish I would have taken my studies and homework a little more serious because my HS grades were lower than I was capable of achieving. Kept those report cards hidden from my kids :-). Made up for it with a high GPA when I finally went to college after completing my military career. Have great respect for all the teachers I had and for all those in the education profession. I worked as a sub teacher one day at an inner city school and gave up any thoughts of being a teacher. Much more attitude and lack of discipline problems in the kids from when we grew up.
