Jessie's Story
After graduation I was a rolling stone, tried college, moved around the midwest and southwest, did a lot of travel in Europe off and on. In the early 90s I finally moved to Kansas City to be near my parents and finish up a BA in Art History at UMKC. I received a Visual Arts teaching certification in 1998 from Avila, began teaching art in the public schools, and finished a masters in education from Webster in 2003. ave been a single parent for 12 years, and own a home that keeps me busy along with raising a teen.
My son is my rock, he is not like any other teen I've known, is hard working, healthy and active, and has incredible maturity.
I feel fortunate to have a job that supports my passions. I have taught for 13 years. It doesn't feel like work!
In my spare time I love to cycle, work out, maintain my garden(s), read, create (oil paintings, oil pastel, fiber design, and glass work), pair wine with food, work on my house and listen to music.
