Jill's Story
Life
Hello to all. Many of you from Plainfield High may or may not remember me. My hair was a blond-brown then, but now I color it auburn. I was one of the few white girls there. I was extremly shy awkward, clumsy and geeky, but very sweet. My family went through terrible termoil. It was the 1970's and unemployment was in the double digit percentage. My father, who was a poor, common laborer from Maine, found it hard to find work and he had just lost his job. We were evicted from our beautiful house on Park Avenue in Plainfield and had to move into a condemned building in Trenton, where we survived for one year for shelter. This did a terrible number on me and my brothers as Trenton was a terrible place to live and our whole family came from Plainfield, our hearts and loyalty were there and even my grandparents went to Plainfield High. We eventualy moved to Maine where my father was raised, but although it was a lot better than Trenton, and a lot of people will disagree, I did not find Maine to be 'the way life should be' and have tried to come back home to NJ several times only to fail because it was just too expensive for a poor woman like me and her family to live there. People who leave N.J. always seem to think that the grass is greener on the other side. I have always loved my home state and the closest school to my heart will always be Plainfield High and the amazing people I had the chance to meet and go to school with. People like the chorus class with Mrs. Hannah Teraine(Sorry if i spelled that wrong!). People like Gwen with the beautiful soprano voice. James Doyle and his hysterically funny immitation of Little Richard in the program we put on that was called 'A tribute to the Appollo Theater Greats'. Ronald Graves and his great piano playing. The colorful Myers sisters, Debbie, Denise and Dianne. I remember Karen with the voice of an angel and her boyfriend Edd...Expand for more
y.I also remember Lorenso Howell and his girlfriend. I also remember a certain bass player named Bruce Shieder that everyone called Brucie the Bad, Bad, Bassist. There was also this guy named Chris and OH! how he could play the drums! He was faster than Keith Moon!! I used to hang out in Hannah Terain's class all the time. I even cut classes to be in her class! I had no tallent whatsoever---if i did--this class brought out what little i had.I wonder where everyone is right now, you all live in my heart. I did not have much talent, and i was so shy and gawky that you may not even remember me. I have become older and bolder and what has not killed me has made me stronger. I recently married a Scotsman and am now finally living with him after all the red tape and money it took! Plainfield was such a good school and when we moved to ME., we had to make due with much less. NJ. and Plainfield High have always been in my heart and I still have dreams that I'm living there today. I even still have dreams that I'm a high school student going there again! It's as if I want to pick up from where I left off. I'll try to see about getting some photos of me to download on this site, but my hair is auburn now, and i dont' look like the same girl people might have remembered. I did not graduate from High School because i could not adjust to the other schools in places i've had to go. I've survived the best that i could in life and now am married to a wonderful, loving man from Scotland. My name today is Jill Faucher-Ross. I have a wonderful new life in Scotland, now, but I will always miss the United States and most of all the State of New Jersey and Plainfield High School! I would love to hear from any of you! And Morse High schoolers and Trenton Central high schoolers, too, athough I was not with you very long. I wish you all a great new year and the best in everything to all of you.
