Jill's Story
Hello!
As I visit the profiles of many old friends from Richfield, 1971-72, I am really amazed by all that each of you have accomplished. Can it be that we have been doing all of this "accomplishing" for 37 years now? I don't feel that I have aged that much!
I attended Baylor from 72-75, and became a music teacher in the Waco/Temple/Belton area. I went back to Baylor in 1990-95 and got my master's in music ed, and had elementary music students and middle school choirs in the Belton schools. I decided to get my certification in social studies in 2005, and spent the last three years in the public school teaching 6th grade world cultures.
I retired from public school teaching after 30 years, and now work several part time jobs--teaching for the Region...Expand for more
12 Service Center, and directing a small girls' choir at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
I have been married to Mike Horner, a history teacher, for 31 years, and we have a son, Dave, who just turned 27. Dave has CP, and still lives here at home with us.
I still sing and play guitar--still the folk and protest music from the 60s and 70s. I love to write, read, and scrapbook. I love theater, but don't participate except as an audience member. I still love the Beatles, and all things British. I enjoy traveling.
I spend my days feeling really alive--it's great to have the time to sit and breathe and notice things that were a blur during the years that I was working and always hurrying to get somewhere else.
I would love to hear from you!
