Jim's Story
Life
After high school I spent the next six year is the US Air Force. I was at Vanderberg AFB during the Cuban Missile Crisis. I was a combat crew member for the Atlas ÂFÂICBM. After my military service I went back to college under the GI Bill. I graduated from Diablo Valley College with an AA degree in Business. I spent the next two year at Cal State College at Hayward. I had to leave in my senior year to run our family business when my brother was hurt badly in an automobile accident. It took over a year for his recovery and when he returned to the business we parted company and I went in to the automobile business. I have been in this business ever since. After twenty-five years in retail Service and Parts Operations I became a Management Consultant for Automotive Service Consultants based in Birmingham, Alabama. Automatic Data Processing (ADP) acquired my company in 1995 and I became the Project Manager for writing and developing Service Management training courses. I was working ...Expand for more
in Hawaii with a mega dealer that not only owned the distributorship for Toyota in the Pacific rim but also owns 9 of the 11 Toyota dealerships in Hawaii. After two years of consulting with this company I was offered a position as Group Vice President Director of Fixed Operations. I married my high school sweet heart Linda Schelling and we have three beautiful daughters. We gained custody of our nephew when he was 11 and raised him as our son. He is an architect in Southern California now. Our oldest daughter Cathy is married to an Aeronautical Engineer with Jacobs Engineering and they have six children. (three boys and three girls). Our next daughter Nancy is married to an Electrical Engineer working for ITT in New York. They have two children a boy and a girl. Our youngest daughter Terri is married to a Construction Superintendent for high purity pharmaceutical piping. They have two boys. God welling,I plan to retire from this company in about 6 1/2 years to enjoy my ten grandchildren.
