Jim's Story
Jim's schools include Albany Union High School. Upon graduation, so long ago, I moved to San Francisco along with Doug Bever, Jim Houchin and Bill Bacon. During this era of Viet Nam draftees we were all concerned with that potential summons from Uncle Sam. To the best of my knowledge none of us were called to serve. After about a year we all went our separate ways with me ending up in Salem where marriage lead to the birth of my first son Geoffrey, who incidentally is head athletic trainer for the Portland Trail Blazers.
That ill-fated marriage came to an end after six years upon which I was almost immediately married to Susan who has been my rock for the past 45 years. I am recently retired as a public works supervisor for the City of Gresham. My wife is also an employee of the City of Gresham with plans to retire shortly to...Expand for more
become a full time grandma to the 13 grandchildren presented by our own three children (2 boys, 1 girl) and son Geoffrey.
Life is good and God has blessed me and my family beyond belief. Mom and Dad are both gone now and I have assumed the patriarch role to be a sounding board and of course resource grandpa to the best of my ability. Some of you will remember my mom Mildred who was a custodial worker and cook at AUHS where she became "mom" to many of you. My time at AUHS was one of many real hi-lites but what I came to miss the most were some terrific friends and very good teachers all of which never gave up on me. I will not forget that feeling of belonging.
All of the above contributed to who I became and why I will always extend my hand to help and share as we are intended to by our maker. God bless and best wishes.
