Jim's Story

WORDS TO LIVE BY If we are afraid to be different - how can we expect to make a difference? Dream what you want to dream; Go where you want to go; Be what you want to be, Because you have only one life And one chance to do all the things You want to do. May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, Enough trials to make you strong, Enough sorrow to keep you human and Enough hope to make you happy. The happiest of people don't necessarily Have the best of everything; They just make the most of Everything that comes along their way. The brightest future will always Be based on a forgotten past; You can't go forward in life until You let go of your past failures and heartaches. When you were born, you were crying And everyone around you was smiling Live your life so at the end You're the one who is smiling and everyone Around you is crying. One day recently I hopped in a taxi, and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane, when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly. So I asked, "Why did you just do that? That guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!" That is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, "The Law of the Garbage Truck. "He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to...Expand for more
dump it, and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets. The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. This is happiness; to be dissolved into something complete and great - Willa Cather They sicken of the calm, who know the storm. - Dorothy Parker Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so..."Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don't." Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it! Is it that we were made for something that this earth does not have to offer? Are we are playing this game we call life in a way that it was designed to be played or are we doing something else? How should we play this game we call life? What are the best things in people? What do we strive to be? Try these on for size and let me know what you think: One who cannot be bought One whose word is their bond One who puts character above wealth One who will not lose their individually in a crowd One who will be as honest in small things as in great One who makes no compromise with wrong One whose ambitions are not confined to their own selfish desires One who is true to their friends through good and bad, in adversity as well as prosperity One who is not ashamed or afraid to stand for the truth when it is unpopular One who can say NO with emphasis, although all the rest say yes I am not sure when you would find such a person? I certainly fall far short of those, but what do you think good goals to aim for?
