Jim's Story
Hey everyone...45 years and one month later, and I'm checking my "story," so thought it was time to update. Hope everyone from the Class of '69 is doing well....I'm getting along just fine.
I left California in 1983 and have lived in Tyler, Texas, Indianapolis, and now Phoenix, Arizona. This is my second stop in Phoenix, and will be where we call home from now on. I'm working for Trane, which is a part of Ingersoll Rand Corporation. I've been with Trane for 33 years now, and have really enjoyed a great career. I begin in sales as a territory manager while still in So Cal, and have moved up to where I am now...a Regional Sales Director, responsible for the central and western part of the United States. It keeps me very busy helping our sales offices serve their customer and grow our business. My region generates about $250 million in revenues for the company, and we are consistent high performers.
I'm married to a great lady, Sandy. Yes, when we married, she officially became Sandra Dee! We enjoy our lives, love to travel, she's a retired florist and loves floral arranging and gardening. I love to play golf, and enjoy most sports. We get to most Arizona Cardinal games, take in a few ASU Sun Devil games, and we travel whenever we can. Together we have four children and a bunc...Expand for more
h of grandkids. Our son David is a Major in the Army, currently in Virginia, married with two sons. Our son Josh is in Reno with two sons and a daughter. Our daughter Christine is near us in Arizona with two daughters. And our daughter Kim is in North Carolina with one son, Nick.
Just like all of us "baby boomers," retirement is something on my mind these days. I'll probably do that within the next year, which will give Sandy and I more time to do what we love...travel, grandkids, and golf. I was able to make the 40th reunion which was nice, but I hope we can do something special for the 50th. Maybe Judy and Jeanette can pull something together one more time...they're so good at that!
I still remember so many great people from my high school years. We all grew so much together, and for me, I learned so much about myself. I hope that I've grown as a person over the years...I still cringe at some of the crazy and even stupid things that I did in high school. I'd like to think that I've continued to learn to be a better person over the years...it's kinda God's plan for us, I think.
