Jim's Story

Life 5-16-07 What a wonderful ride it has been. Heck, if you are reading this, we are still here so that is good news. I am in Sacramento, came here for a 2 year gig with a group of radio stations from San Diego over 22 years ago- Yes I flunked the IQ test on that. I am blessed, as a late starter with a 16 year old daughter. She is happy, lots of friends, much better grades than I and has yet to go sideways-knock on wood. Ended up graduating with a degree in Broadcasting from San Francisco State and spent most of the past 34 years in radio/TV sales and now have a start up advertising agency. Start up-somedays good and others "What the Hell am I thinking"--HA HA. 18 months in Viet Nam gave me the opportunity to visit Bangkok, Hong Kong and Sydney. The bug is still there. I have been fortunate to visit 42 countries. One of numerous missed goals was living in a foreign country much like Ron Markwardt has done. He was working in Thailand the last time I heard from him and before that South America. The favorite countries were Nepal, Kenya, Costa Rica and France. I enjoy experiencing countries as a traveler rather than a tourist. You get so much more of a local feel My daughter Kelsey and I have visited France, Costa Rica and Spain in the last 5 years. With a new business my passport is getting cobwebs-lol. Another passion in addition to traveling is cooking. Thai, Chinese, Italian and what friends call the "best Ceasar Salad they have had." Currently single. I am quite involved in non profits serving as Board Chair for Junior Achievement inclu...Expand for more
ding volunteering in the classroom, along with involvement in the local Metro Chamber of Commerce, a Rotary Club and the Northern California Building Industry Association. This years challenge is to convert some of this into business revenue for my company. Most of radio career was spent in Rock and Roll radio so I like to think it kept me young- Yeah Yeah, we all say that-HA HA. Still enjoying dancing but it seems the only places here that are age friendly are blues bars that play some Classic Rock and a few places that seem to have the same faces every time I go there. Enjoying wine tasting is another passion as so much it is close. So close that I no longer visit Napa or Sonoma with the high visibility wineries. There are more acres of wine grapes in the Lodi appellation which is anywhere from 10 to 40 miles from here than Napa, Sonoma, Central Coast and San Diego appellations combined. The Lodi zinfandels are wonderful. Try one. I purposefully have an easy access web site. Check it out warreneaton.com. A web site we produced just won a Northern California award. You could have knocked me over with a feather. My parents moved to California in 1973 after my older brother and I were well settled in, He in 65 and me in 67. Hence I don't get back to Wisconsin often. I would love to hear from anyone of you. Disappointed there was not a reunion in 06, if anything happens this year, possibly 66 can dovetail with 67. MY sincere hope this finds you well and happy. Life is too short and also to long to live any other way Jim
