Jim's Story

Dark, grainy picture from the Texas Coast (Galveston) My oldest daughter Stacy and my first Grand Child, Abby are still in the files, expecting her second the December! I HAVE REACHED THE PINNACLE OF MY ARMY CAREER! I RECIEVED MY ORDER FOR MY PROMOTION TO (FULL) COLONEL!! Life Most of you haven't seen me, well, since high school, maybe the 6th(?) reunion, or the 20th, or when I first got off active duty from the Army 81'-86', and was with the Doyle 1 FD and was working my way through college at UB. I got a nursing degree (had been a medic the last 3 years of the 7 I spent the first time) went back on active duty as an officer in the Army Nurse Corps. I served in Desert Storm, got out again in 92', moved to San Antonio (SA), TX, stayed in the Reserves, went to Afghanistan for 6 months (Jan 02' to July 02') then went directly to to Kuwait to help plan for the war in Iraq, stayed through the invasion until July 03' and after 2 years of mobilization got off active duty in Dec 03', back to SA, were I work as an ER/Trauma nurse, staying in the Reserves. I volunteered to come back out to Kuwait for a year, been here since July 06'. Returned to US June 2007. I...Expand for more
've been with the Army for 35+ years. I'm medically retiring from the Army sometime early next year (2010.) I have had a long, exciting, tramatic, wonderful life. If you read this and want to know more, e-mail me here and I fill you in! UPDATE:1 AUG 2007 - I returned from Kuwait in late June, and as a result of an illness and an injury that was aggravated while out in Kuwait (and other places) I'm in a Medical Evaluation Process with the Army, currently at Fort Stewart, GA (near Savannah/Hilton Head) and expect to be transfered to San Antonio, TX/Fort Sam Houston (where I live)to complete my evaluation. Boy the Army can give you the run around when they want to. I'm within 3 days of being a grandfather, my daughter Stacy (29) is about to deleiver/be induced on 3 August. UPDATE: Christmas 2007- my Grand-daughter was born 1 Aug, Abby is as beautiful as her mom! I'm at Fort Sam Houston TX, in the Warrior Transition Battalion, pending release to the Active Duty until retirement, which may be May '08 or 2010. I have been promoted to full Colonel, and have to keep the rank 'on' for a minimum of 2 years, so I have to work (in the Army)a couple more years.

@Ted’s, for those who know, no explanation needed, those that do, none is possible!
Vicious thunder storm just rolled through town. Less then half an inch, 10 minutes and it’s over! I can see patches of blue sky already. Such is the weather in Texas. Lucky to have rain at all!
Saw this church on our way down to Victoria and I knew we had to stop on the way home and say a prayer for the families of those who we taken just inside those doors. Almost unimaginable standing outside the place.
My wife is okay with me chasing this kind of ass all season long! No problems at all! I’m worried a bit, a buck is the male of the white tailed deer species, does that make me...naw, just a selective hunter! (Yes, it’s nigh
Just saying....
Okay, 2-3 months late but my poinsettias are looking fairly good. In San Antonio the 12 hour light/dark cycle starts too late naturally for blooms in time for Christmas. I was (and probably will next year) too distracted to
This is what happens when you let a radish go to seed over winter in Texas! That’s a standard garbage can in front of it.
WTH?!? Go to use restroom at J Carinos, urinal is <18 inches off the floor! How many 3 yr-old boys need to use a urinal?!? There’s a reason it’s called a Men’s Room! We don’t need to splash our kneecaps to accommodate every
