Jim's Story
Life
Moved to Detroit in 1971. Married a talented and beautiful portrait artist, Marilyn Meyers. So far, it's working out (as of 2013, it's been 41 years). One son, Ian, born in 1977. He's a professional musician, music recording engineer/producer and an all-around great guy. Ian has a very cool world roots music band called "The Red Sea Pedestrians" that has become a fixture on the Michigan music festival circuit. They play regularly in west Michigan and Kalamazoo. You can hear his music at theredseapedestrians.com. Yeah, I'm pretty proud of him, all right.

lly learned to fly in 1991. It's an intense passion and what I do to relax and renew my energy.
Workplace
In college and after, I was a disk jockey in East Lansing, Saginaw, Buffalo & Detroit. Claim to fame: got fired twice from the same radio station precisely one year apart: St. Patrick's Day 1972 & 1973. That's when I changed careers and became an advertising copywriter, then a creative director. Today, I own an aviation marketing and advertising consultancy doing advertising for aircraft manufacturers and related businesses. You can see what I've been up to at gorman360.com. I've been very lucky in my career and love what I do, but I still fear St. Patrick's Day.
