Jim's Story
I started working various jobs, moved to the Seattle area in '81, then back to Salem by '82. Got by for a while, then in August of '86 I moved to California to work with my brother in construction. This work took me all over the Bay Area until I finally got out of construction and into production and machine operation. I've worked at many places and in many industries, but I've spent the most time in printing - 18 years.
For the last 6 years I've operated digital printing presses, HP Indigos, for everything from wine labels to personalized postage stamps.
Currently I'm not working. I've been fortunate enough to take an extended leave. I just couldn't take the commuting 75 - 120 miles each way any more and I didn't want to or couldn't afford to move to where the jobs were. I even commuted to L.A. for awhile. Too bad that one didn't work out.
For the last 10 years I've been living in Roseville, California. It's about 15 miles East of Sacramento, on I 80. It's a great place to live if you love to spend money.

in 2 1/2 miles, 2 movie theaters and my gym (24 Hour Fitness) are within 3 miles, plus there's 2 Home Depots, a BestBuy, a Fry's, Barnes and Noble... well you get the idea.
Everything I need or want, and then some, within 3 miles. It's also close to the mountains, not far from the Bay Area, and only 3 hours from Yosemite.
It's just way too hot in the summer, and there's that job thing. Happily, I can still afford to hold out for a good job with a good company that will make the triple digit days (We average 22 days a year) easier to deal with.
Never married, (I came close twice), no kids, I travel when I can.
During my time off I like to go hiking, mountain biking, in-line skating, gym, or snowshoeing in the winter. My main hobby is digital photography. You'll find me in Yosemite every Thanksgiving, hiking and snapping pics, it's a blast! Hopefully I'll get some pics posted soon.
I really miss Silverton. The few times I've been back, have been too brief to enjoy. I do know it's not the same place it was. Hopefully, I'll be getting a lot more time to enjoy there soon.
