Jim's Story
Life
Well, where do I start? I was always interested in finding old friends, just never really knew of any means to do it. Then I find this site! For those who remember me, from Newbury Elementary, Jones Jr High, or Macomber-Whitney Â
greetings! I am currently married to my Jr HS sweetheart, the former Melanie Shuman. We have two children, Ryan 6, and Kaylee 1. Upon graduation from Macomber, I worked shortly at Broadway Litho working as an offset printing operator. Stuff got less than challenging, so I decided to challenge myself and the fun hasnÂt stopped since.
I joined the Marine Corps and havenÂt looked back. So IÂm over 12 years now in active service. IÂve pretty much done and seen many things since HS, from living in Japan for two years, to spending 3 years as a Marine Corps recruiter, to my current assignment stationed here in the heart of London, England. I canÂt say that I miss Toledo life all that much, but I terribly miss my childhood friends. Strange for some folks to fathom never seeing your buds after HS, but I havenÂt. I just never got the opportunity to see the occasional hometown friend while frequenting a store or ballgame!
I really like to chat or e-mail most of you when I get the chance. If you get a second, e-mail me and IÂll get back with you. LetÂs catch up!

School
This is niceÂ
a HS bio. How the hell am I supposed to do that  IÂve been out of school for 15 years!
IÂll give it shotÂ
Well, for those who were close to me, youÂd know that I was a pretty good artist. I spent much of my free time in Mr SherlockÂs art room working and honing a skill that I havenÂt used since. One of my credits was a joint mural done with Chris DeSandro in front of the counselors office of the Mac-Man and Mac chick.
I played 2 years of Varsity baseball, and JV one year. I was one of the rare white guys who could play basketball well, especially at my small 5Â7Â skinny frame at the time. Now that IÂve been serving in the Marine Corps for the past 15 years, that body is long gone, but itÂs still nice to think how skinny I was.
I was in a couple drama playsÂ
for the life of me, I canÂt remember the names. Actually I can: ÂInside Lester and ÂGuess WhoÂs Coming to Dinner. Maybe the memory banks arenÂt so bad after all!
My senior year I was named Most Outstanding Student in my vocational trade, Graphic Arts. Thanks to Mr. Bell for that award. He saw something that I never did at the time.
Like I mentioned earlier, about 6 months after graduation, I joined the Marine Corps. I havenÂt seen much of Toledo in the past decade or so. I sure miss the people, community, and my old friends. Although I wouldnÂt ch...Expand for more
ange the experience of my current lifestyle and my new friends, thereÂs always a spot for you guys that helped somehow shape the man I became to be. I hope you all feel the same way.

Workplace
There's not much to add when it comes to my brief year and half stay at the Fredericksburg, Circuit City. I was there for the new store to open, although I had little to do with the transition.
Because of my active duty military commitment to the Marines, I spent much of that new store time searching for a house here in rainy London, England.
I must admit, for the most part, the CC experience was pretty good. I made some good friends there while being a Sales Counselor on a part-time basis.
Hey, no hard feelings if I sold more than any of you on any given day. The truth is, and many of you hadn't a clue why...but I was a school-trained salesman by the Marine Corps when they sent me out to canvass the earth as a Recruiter. Surely helped me make BIG $$$. Thanks for the memories, Circuit City.
Military
Well, now comes the time for a military bio. ItÂs going to be short and sweet and hope.
I'm still serving in the Marine Corps. Currently, I'm an administrative chief with the Marine Corps Recruiting Station in Cleveland, Ohio. I've been here since July 2005. Things can be a bit stressful, but I have always thought I perform the best under those circumstances.
Before that, I was stationed in London, England. It was nice, but eye-opening experience to live over there for nearly 3 years.
IÂm from Toledo OH. Coming out of Macomber-Whitney HS, I joined the Marine Corps after a short stint as an offset printing press operator. I went to boot camp in April of 1991 in San Diego CA. From there I went to 29 Palms CA for an electronics school. I ended up as a 2531 Field Radio Operator. I spent the next few years on the island of Okinawa, an island owned by the country of Japan. I did half my tour there in the comm unit and the other with the administrative office, S-1.
After I left there, I got married, headed to Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, NC. Did a few years there, splitting between the Radio/Admin jobs. I received orders in 1995 to report back to San Diego for Recruiters School. I did my time as a Marine Recruiter in Louisville, KY. During my final year there, I was awarded the recruiting station ÂRecruiter of the Year award.
I did the next 3 years or so at Quantico VA as the Base Assistant Personnel Officer. My main job was enlisted assignments to include the much talked about OCS Augmentation. From there, I made the move to London with a Navy Command, then eventually to Cleveland. ThatÂs all I have for now. Semper Fi.
