Jim's Story

Life after i graduated from high school,i attended ohio state university for about a year. in october of 1964 i married and decided to drop out of school and prepare myself to become a member of the columbus police department. as far back as i can remember, i knew i wanted a career in law enforcement. in 1966 i completed my training and hit the street, green as new grass.as we all know, life in the 60s was a time in our society when every value and standard we had been taught was being questioned and a demand for social change was very strong.needless to say, this was a tough time for anyone who was considered to be an authority figure. lawenforcement careers can take a toll on personal relationships and in 1977 i was divorced. i had been assigned to the narcotics division at that time and i was away from home quite a bit and living a duel life had taked quite an emotional toll. i decided to transfer to the investigative subdivision where i completed my career and retired in 1990. by this time, i had re-married and had 3 beautiful daughters.tragically, in 1992 my wife became very ill and had to be hospitalized. she suffered a massive stroke, unrelated to her original illness while she was in the hospital.the doctors told us the damage was so extensive that she, more than likely, would not live. god had different plans and she managed to live and began a slow recovery, however, she never regained memory of her past life or our life together prior to the stroke. a few years later i agreed to a divorce.needless to say, this was another very tough period in my life ,but thanks t...Expand for more
o some wonderful support from my daughters and good friends, i managed to stay positive and up beat. i have since remarried and have a great life going.my present wife had been a professional wrestler{ no, im not kidding. she had on many ocassions worked for vince mcmann sr. } when she was younger and was always very athletic and very much into physical fitness and working out. this fit my life style perfectly ,since i had been very much into weight lifting since i was about 16.we have combined our work out time so we can participate in our hobby together.i am presently employed by the kroger company in loss prevention and quality assurance which keeps me busy and off the streets at night.. along the way,i managed to graduate from capital university and worked on a masters through the university of dayton for a period of time in clinical counceling.i was forced to drop out of the program when i took custody of one of my granddaughters during a family crises.she was 3 years old when she came to me,and i might add, her comming to live with me has been a great joy and a wonderful experience. i m looking forward to hearing from old friends with whom i have lost contact over the years. god bless. jim haydu 1962 School wow...i had a really good time in school. the thing i miss most is the comradery. i really liked being around the people at school, especially at eastmoore. i thought we had a great group of people in our class(1962). if i did anything differently; it would probably be to ask out a couple of girls i had wanted to go out with but never got around to asking.
