Jim's Story

Life Life Bio?...damn...that's quite an assignment!! Ok...where to start...I grew up in San Bruno (Rollingwood), eldest of 3 brothers and a sister. Attended St. Veronica's Academy through the 3rd grade afterwhich time I "transferred" to Rollingwood Elementry, graduating to Engvall Jr. High and then to Crestmoor High. I participated in several activities and sports while in high school but I mostly I spent my time trying to figure out how not to wear shoes while at school... I left San Bruno forever that summer first traveling a bit on the East Coast and then off to college in San Diego (SDSU). I spent the first couple of years changing majors and hanging out at Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. After 18 months, I finally ended up as an electronic engineering major and soon my social life came to an abrupt end. Fours years later I finally left the safe confines of San Diego St. and thanks to on-campus interviews, landed a great position with Square D, a manufacturer of electrical equipment. The position with Square D was great for one reason, I found myself in the role of an International Sales Engineer which meant that I traveled abroad supporting distributors and sales efforts. My territory was all of Africa, the Middle-East, and East Europe (before the wall was torn down). Traveling abroad to exotic locations is best done on Company expense with local people there to show you the sites. During this time with Square D, I decided (unwisely) to marry a great gal that I had met while in college. Being gone for 3-4 weeks at a time isn't a real healthy way to start a marriage so after about 3 years it was time to leave a...Expand for more
nd find a more "local" position. I ended up as a Sales Engineer for a manufacturer of electrical components (Bussmann Fuses) in San Diego/Mexico. I stayed at Bussmann for 7 years before getting the entrepreneur itch. In 1991, I started a wholesale distributor of electronic parts called Vortex Technologies. We sell all types of products (with the exception of Integrated Circuits) mostly to factories using our parts in the assembly of their equipment. In 1996 we added another company called Basic Power providing off-shore engineering and manufacturing to domestic companies. In 2000, another company called OptiFuse was added to the mix manufacturing fuses in Asia and selling them to distributors accross N. America. In 2001, I decided to roll up all the companies into one now called Triad Partners, LLC. My kids are the real reason I exist today. In 1989, we were blessed with a healthy daughter (Sarah) and in 1991 a son (Benjamin). Both are very active but not overprogrammed like so many kids of today are. Unfortunately in 2001 and for no fault, my wife and I felt it best to end our 15 year marriage. We both remain great friends today and share the kids equally and are both very happy with the decision. In 2003, I met a wonderful woman. She is a mom of three great kids and we try to spend as much time as we can together. No marriage plans in the near future but she is definitely someone I'll be spending the rest of my life with. So that's it...I highly doubt you made it to this point, but I wrote it anyways. I hope you and yours are happy, healthy, safe and sane. Feel free to drop me a line should you feel the urge...
