Jim's Story

Life Aloha: After high school I worked at Mare Island for a while, when I was 21 I was In a bad car accident, during my 7 month stay at Queen Of the Valley Hospital I got real good on the guitar, Next I put a band together in Napa and headed for Reno to become fameous, funny thing we did, along with Ron Nichlolas and Jim DelRio we played the western states based in Reno. In 1966 I formed a new band as did Ron and Jim, My band was called "the Changing Times" and was geared to play showrooms, we played the Thunderbird & Caesars Palace in Las Vegas & Harrahs at Lake Tahoe & Reno, after tremendous success the band retired in 1970. I went to "Kings Castle" at Lake Tahoe and worked as a stage hand, my first big artist to work with was Robert Goulet folowed by Johnny Mathis, Marty Robins, Ed Ames, Jose Feliciano and BB King and many others. While working with Jose I got a chance to play bass with him which helped advance me in the entertainment Dept. where I became Entertainment director. After Kings Castle I went to Great Falls, Montana and became a partner in a country music nig...Expand for more
ht club where I learned the country music business. After that I went back to Reno and formed the first entertainment sound company in N. Nevada servicing almost all of the major stars that played the Reno,Tahoe Sparks area. There I met Vikki Carr and went to work for her as her sound engineer traveling the US, Canada, & Mexico, what a trip!.I was also sound for Bobbie Gentry. Next I became shift mgr. & entertainment director for Gold dust Hotel Casinos and running the stage monitor system for John Ascuagas Nugget showroom in Sparks. In 1986 I came to Hawaii and opened a sound company and a music and sound store(the biggest). I also produced CD's for 5 of Hawaii's greatest entertainers. 3 years ago I broke my back in a freak accident which caused me to retire. I think what I will try and do now is write a book on my incredible career, a journey that to this day I would have never believed possible. I am now 67 years old have one beautiful daughter and four great grand children. Was I not voted least likely to succeed in the yearbook or so I was told. Aloha JIM & "Charlie"
