Jim's Story

Life I graduated from CMA in '79 with a BS in Marine Engineering and a Third Engineer's license to work on civilian ships. Lynn and I married in June of that year. We moved to Texas in '91 after seeing how affordable housing was and finding out the county was putting a dump on the hill above our Pittsburg home. I worked 17 years as a shipboard engineer for Chevron on tankers running between Alaska, Hawaii & the West Coast. ...Expand for more
I received my Chief Engineer's license in'89. I left Chevron in 96, and since then I have been sailing the Pacific Rim mostly with Sea-Land on their container ships out of San Francisco. I have enjoyed traveling to exotic ports in the Far East, Caribbean, and Mediterranean. I've been in the Naval Reserve since '79 and am currently a Commander. Lynn and I have just returned from a trip to Germany and Denmark with our church.
