Jim's Story

My wife and I were married in 1975. In 1980 we moved to Dauphin where I started my career as a travelling sales rep. In 1982 we were transferred to Brandon in which I became territory manager' looking after western and northern Manitoba. During this time we were raising 3 children, {actually my wife was as I was on the road most of the time} The family has now grown too include 3 grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren. The last number of years I decided to spend more time at home and set up shop looking after maintenance in building in CFB Shilo and a few facilities in Brandon. Some of these facilities have closed due to covid, but I'm kept busy making sure they're safe from it in Shilo. Unfortunately in 2018 my wife passed away. Summer time hobbies primarily are travelling to and golfing at different courses in southern Manitoba. Winter activities included virtual golf and supporting the Brandon Wheat Kings Hockey until covid hit, of course. This year I took the opportunity to do something ...Expand for more
a little different. I went to Newfoundland for my granddaughter's wedding, Going to Newfoundland was the little different part. I never really thought of Newfoundland as a place to visit, but I'm certainly glad I did, and would recommend it to everyone. My trip included landing just outside Cornerbrook and then driving 6 hours north along the west coast to St Anthony. The wedding took place 2 hours south of that in Port Saunders. It gave me the opportunity see a lot of their beautiful country side. After another couple of days in St Anthony, it was a another 6 hour trip back to Cornerbrook and then on my way back home. The people of "the Rock" were some of the best people I have ever met, and the food they offered up was tremendous. Got the opportunity to try a beer made with water from an iceberg, but didn't get "screeched in". Before I forget, the wedding was excellent and I've never seen my granddaughter happier! I don't take to many holidays but this was the best one I've ever taken!!!!!
