I retired at age 65 as a Sr. VP, Director of IT for a large Mortgage Co. I am very thankful of the opportunity that the Military afforded me,(No It was NOT the result of "White Privilege" we hear so much about these days, It was the result of sacrifice, failure determination and damn hard work, with just a "Sprinkle" of good luck If you grew up in. or near Georgetown in the 50's and 60's you know what I am talking abot (I hear that Georgetown has drastically change since my childhood),.., but enough about that! I am thankful for my life and the small success I have had, I am especially ...Expand for more
thankful for the Education I got in at CHS, I was not aware of it at the time, but we were taught by excellent teachers with solid values that actually cared, and made a difference in our lives! I KNOW it had a positive impact on mine! I recently connected with our old friend and classmate Dan DeSantis..It really broke my heart when his wife notified me of his untimely passing ( RIP Danny, I think of you all the time, I really miss our talks and laughs, especial the laughs)., Dan brought me back to the days of Alki beach, "The Loop at Lake Washington". DAG's ,The Barrell, Georgetown, South Park, (AKA "*Garlic Gulch").we often reminisced about Basic Infantry Training at Ft. Ord with many of our CHS Classmates! and who could forget Louie's "The Eagles Roos", and having that smoke behind it in the morning before school all the ,while keeping a lookout for Mr. Walroff? All the fun we had living in Seattle when life for a 17yo was just great!. I joined Classmates partially because of Dan and partly because of the many memories were reignited in reminiscing of the "Old Days" with him, Bob Bauck, Keith Ness and Mike Stewert and so many others You are all frozen in my memories as teenagers!....I hope I haven't bored you too much with my tale, I has lots' of years to cover, I do sincerely hope your lives have been as "interesting". as mine. Somehow the "Ups and Downs" even out over the years. Rest assured, I do think of many of you,, BTW I now go by my "given name;" Kenneth (James) Malinak...Cheers to al "Class of 1963"!
