Jim's Story

After grad school I moved from Michigan to sunny, warm Orlando, Florida and spent a couple decades working at Lockheed Martin in Engineering Research and Program Management. Most of the work was classified but if you remember President Reagan's "Star Wars" (Strategic Defense Initiative), then you have a good idea what I was doing for 12 hours a day in the 80's and early 90's. Had a heart attack and stroke when I was only 54 (thanks, genetics) so I left corporate life and started a computer consulting business which I thought would be less stressful. AOL. Talk about jumping from the frying pan into the fire. Anyway, my wife of 20 years and I are blessed with a beautiful daughter who keeps us very busy. I am a recreational pilot and scuba diver but health issues have made it a challenge to keep those certifications current. Cayman Brac and Cozumel are our favorite dive destinations. I dabble in photography and sing in a church choir for grins. Speaking of singing, back in 2002, I had a reunion lunch with our former HPHS chorus director, Miss Blume ... she was healthy and very busy being an award winning symphony orchestra conductor.
