Jim's Story
After high school I went to Mesa College in Grand Junction where I got my Associates and Bachelors degrees in Political Science. I also joined a fraternity, Tau Kappa Epsilon. I then got a graduate assistantship at LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and graduated from there with a Master's degree in Education in 1986. In February of 1987 I started working as the Director of Intramural Recreational Sports at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, LA. In 1991 I got married to a wonderful lady from this area, her name is Roxann. We live in Hammond and I have two kids, Caitlin 23 and Cody 21. My wife and I both work at the university, she is a Library Specialist 3 and I am now the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs. We also have one dog.

nd is a town of about 20,000 and it is located a hour north of New Orleans and a hour east of Baton Rouge. We have the small town atmosphere but can be in a big city within a hour. Southeastern is a public 4 year institution with roughly 15,000 students.
Hurricanes are a way of life from June to November and we survived Katrina and Rita in 2005 and Gustav in 2008. Life changes after a storm and you really learn how to do without some necessities for a while. (Power, water, air conditioning, TV)
Our 30th class reunion was a lot of fun, it was great getting to see some of you!
Hammond, Louisiana got 8 inches of snow Thursday, December 11, 2008 and the kids got a rare snow day in the south. We also lost power for two and 1/2 days, just like a hurricane.
