Jim's Story
For someone that did not aspire "to be all he could be" in high school I have been blessed and very fortunate! After recieving a greetings from Uncle Sam, I joined the Air Force in 1968 and became a firefighter. Like most, I guess, got married (Ellen) at my first assignment in Tennessee. I stayed with the Air Force and continued to work in fire protection for 34 years, in a combination of Active Duty and Civil Service positions. mpete for the highest job in Air Force Fire Protection, because my wife, Ellie, loves Ohio and did not want to move back to FL. This turned out to be a real blessing when the pay structure was changed and increased our retirement - thanks again Elle! I retired from the AF Reserves, as a Chief Master Sergeant, at Dobbins ARB GA, in 1997; I then retired from Wright-Patterson AFB OH., in 2002, as a GM-13 Fire Chief. We had one daughter, Angie; she and her husband blessed us with a wondwerful granddaughter about six years ago. Now we are retired just enjoying our only granddaughter, Ava.
