Anna's Story
Life
This is a little foreboding. ItÂs kind of like standing on a
stage, nude, in front of an invisible audience. So please, be kind!
I'm now a 53 year old mom and grandmother. I was married to an incredible man named Keith Long until his death in 2003. He was an English Professor at SWOSU. About a year ago, the Lord brought another wonderful man into my life named Jim Olson and we were recently married. He lives in Boulder Colorado and we are working on the logistics of his moving here. He sold his business of 30 years and plans to move to Oklahoma where we will eventually go into full time ministry.
About me...I am very disciplinedÂ
every other day. On alternate days I try and make up for lost time (exercise and nutrition fall under this behavior as well but, fortunately, you can maintain muscle mass on this schedule and I understand that "free radicals" won't go near an antioxidant : )
I have a BA degree, but I haven't seen it lately. People think IÂm
intelligent until they watch me try and fix my hair, find my car keys or
figure out what to do with all the commas I have left over at the end of
whatever IÂm writing.
ItÂs true! Despite the vast array of hair care products lined up on my
bathroom counter, I continue to experience Âhobbit hair. Mind you, the
color is changing a bit, but the insubordination continues! And, the
lost key problem, letÂs just say that having ten duplicates made has only given me more options of places to look! And commas, shrug, IÂm clueless. If you see one where it shouldnÂt be or visa versa just try and ignore it. I use them like salt and they fall where they will.
Not to worry though, I have a proactive plan to stop the confusion! I
started doubling up on Ginkgo Biloba for, and I quote, Âmental
alertness. SoÂ
there you go; once I learn to pronounce it correctly, IÂll be halfway cured.
Additionally, due to the prompting of my 14 year old son, I
am attempting to develop Âmental focus by learning to play chess.
(Scrabble's out because you have to know how to spell) This is going quite well. After only six months. I can get the pieces on the board correctly! Beyond that, I'm in a holding pattern!
I take at least one class at the university every year and I own a Curves fitness Center. I buy tools and pretend I know what to do with them; I subscribe to Handyman Magazine and pretend I'll complete one of the projects.
IÂm easily excited by simple things like when I find two socks that match or the when the toaster pops up on its own before the toast is smoking or when someone, besides me, actually puts more toilet paper on the t.p. dispenser. (Not holding my breath though)
I enjoy flea markets, public speaking, and train rides. I love the mountains, fireside chats, camping and hiking to name a few things. ...Expand for more
I enjoy many types of music including: Worship, classical, Celtic, instrumental, jazz, folk, R&B, symphony, movie sound tracks and Josh Groban. Favorite reading includes the Bible, Classics, Christian authors including Max Lucado, Brennan Manning, Tozer, Oswald Chambers, Andrew Murray, Madame Guyon, Lewis, Tolkien, to name a few and conversation and contemplative are my passion.
I am a people lover, easy going, have a good sense of humor, interactive, conversational, health conscious, and do my best to extend grace and mercy to those around me. I'm iconoclastic in regard to trends of any kind. I am largely unaffected by opinions of the general population. I have been told by others that I am godly, gracious, witty and genuine
It's an honor to share life with you and it would be great to hear from you!!
School
No high school crushes...I just wanted to find a guy who was real and valued the simple things in life. Things like a shared faith, a picnic on the river bank, hiking, music, conversation, contemplative and a good story. I was sucessful in that journey.: )
To be honest, I didn't even know school was an exercise in acedemia until I was in my thirties when I returned to college. The only thing that inspired me as far as teachers were concerned was if they gave an open book test. : ) I really liked Mr. Greteman though and having become a huge J R R Tolkien fan, I appreciate his efforts at putting on "The Hobbit" even though we acted like idiots during the school performance. If you ever read this Mr. Greteman...I apologize. Now I get it!
I'm not all that certain that I would want to do it over again but if I did, I'd do more homework. I still have nightmares about not doing it!!!!
The only memory I really have is the time I forgot to take my slip off in P.E. and it fell down around my hips during a basketball game. Oh... and there was the time I left something in the dressing room after P.E. and went back to get it after school. To my shock and horror, I discovered it became a dressing room for track guys 7th hour. My innocense was lost... I walked in on them in all their sweat and masculine glory. It was not a pretty sight. Another thing I still have nightmares about!!!:)
College
Okay...college didn't happen until I was in my thirties. It took me years to complete it and I married my English Professor. He jokingly told me not long before he died that he decided that the only way he felt he could help me was to marry me and spend the rest of his life teaching me to spell. : )
Workplace
I'm pretty sure I don't have a large enough vocabulary to get through a work history, but let me just say that talking remains my forte. I'm an inspirational speaker and I own a Curves. I'm really good at convincing people (including myself) that I know what I'm talking about.
