Jim's Story

Life After high school (which I hated) I worked for a while at the Courier News and then went in the US Air Force for 4 years. I was stationed at McGuire AFB, Thule AFB, and Takli, Thailand. I fixed airplane instruments (all those dials on the "dash board"). After the service, I worked for Tenneco Chemicals as a chemical lab tech and went to college at night. I was promoted to Analytical Chemist. After 12 years I went to work for Nanometrics, Inc. a maker of electron microscopes in Sunnyvale, CA as the Technical Service and Support Manager. After 7 years with Nanometrics I left in 1990 to found MACS Lab, Inc. in Santa Clara, CA. MACS Lab, Inc. is an envirornmental laboratory and consulting company. company president and I still own the company which now has 23 employees and a few part time folks. Two years ago I started Silicon Valley media Service which is a video production house. We shoot industrial, commercial and technical vidoes, edit videos, duplicate them and author DVDs. I have a wonderful 15 year long domestic partner relationship with Charles Landau, and we raised his son who is now 19 and a sophomore at UC Santa Barbara. Charlie and I own the top of a small mountain (40 acres) in Nevada County California where we plan to build our dream house. I have a ham radio license (N6VSM), own a 1958 Buick which I love to drive and have an electric car that was made out of a 1980 Plymouth Horizon (and 18 batteries....).
