Jim's Story

Life howdy! splitting our time between Santa Fe New Mexico and our farm deep in the mountains of western Virginia. Prior, Purcellville, Virginia for 16 years, before that bouncing around the countryside (Idaho 1976, Kentucky 1977-1980, Chicago 1981, Virginia 1981-82, Massachusetts 1982-86, and then Virginia again 1986-2002) Married since 1981 (28 years!) to another High Pointer, Celia Culver, class of '77. 50,000 miles hitchiking, by 1980 I settled down to a career in what would today be called "the internet". Have started a few companies, and have worked for some others, but have always had a pretty good time at it, whatever I was doing. I "retired" (for the third time) April 1, 2001. Still busy. Spending a lot of time doing scientific research in the field of complexity science. These days I'm a researcher in residence at the Santa Fe Institute the leading think tank for complexity science; serve on some company and not-for-profit boards; and generally enjoy life!
