Fearing being drafted and then sent to Vietnam, I joined Naval ROTC. At graduation I was commissioned and a few months later I was in the Navy Seabees building fire-bases and roads for the 7th Marine Regiment at LZ Baldy in VIetnam - clearly my plan did not work out. s and ended up with an MSCE from Purdue and a Ph.D. from Carnegie-Mellon. Met my wife at Purdue and wer're still together at 45+ years.. Started as an Assistant Professor at U. of Maryland, but didn't get tenure, so after consulting for about 4-5 years ended up at USDoT, retiring in 2012. We have two daughters, one married, but no grandchildren yet. We're living just outside of Annapolis, Maryland, but I still bleed "Black and Gold" for Pittsburgh and all its teams. The wife and I enjoy our retirement immensely - hoping to stretch it out for another 20 years.
