Jim's Story

Life Hi everyone. Its amazes me when I think that very soon it will have been 40 years since graduating from SHS. I moved to Flordia shortly after graduating and began attending the Univ. of South Florida (USF)here in Tampa. I flunked out after two years and joined the Air Force. After basic training and tech school, I was stationed in England (RAF Chicksands) for 3 1/2 years. I got out in '72, returned to Tampa and went back to USF. I graduated with a degree in Accounting and Economics. Somehow I managed to pass the CPA exam. I now work for the City of Tampa in the Internal Audit Department - prior to that I spent over 20 years in the Healthcare industry. I got married in '75 to a beautiful Cuban lady. We have two wonderful kids: Jennifer who is 28 and Jim who is 24. Both live here in Tampa - very grateful for that. Jennifer has blessed me with a beautiful granddaughter - Chloe, who will be six in April. I have a great time with her, going to the movies (last one was SpongeBob Square Pants - awesome!), to parks etc. My wife and I divorced in late '97. To say it was a mistake is an understatement. But she has remarried and we have become the best of friends. I have not remarried but do date...Expand for more
occasionally. I am very active in our Church and teach a Bible Study class each Sunday before the worship service. On June 6 (D-day), 2003 I had brachytherapy performed on me. It is the implantation of radioactive seeds in the prostate - I had prostate cancer. It was through regular check ups that it was found - I urge everyone (males, of course) to have annual physicals. Ladies, you can help too by making sure your loved one has it done periodically. I have been cancer free to this date. I am very grateful to God and the many people who were praying for me. School My biggest crush was on Janet Miller. We met up several years ago through this website. She is as beautiful as ever! My favorite teacher was/is Gary Melander (hope I spelled that right). There were a couple of others but for some reason I can't fully remember their names (these senior moments are becoming more frequent!) I really enjoyed playing sports at school. And much to my chagrin, the moment I remember the most, was when we were partying at this old abandoned farm house and we got busted by the cops for trespassing - also something about rolling a beer keg down the hill - your wouldn't remember anything about that John?

Me and my best friend of over 60 years, Jerry Reed. We were Air Force brats at RAF Upper Heyford from '59-'62. Jerry is a disabled vet who was shot down flying a chopper over in Vietnam. He is also a PhD. Definitely not

My little granddaughter and me sharing a moment! Always in my heart...
Okay baseball has been on a few months now - a pic of a few of the guys on the diamond...unfortunately some of the others were not available. Nevertheless, we have fun times out there!
My beautiful Wifey at ball park enjoying the game - me, at home nursing a pulled upper thigh from - you guessed it, playing baseball. Hope to be back at it soon.
Proud of my son as a cop...his life matters to me as does all the other officers that protect us. All Lives Matter.
