One of Jim's favorite quotes is:""We still find the greedy hand of government thrusting itself into every corner and crevice of industry, and grasping at the spoil of the multitude. Invention is continually exercised to furnish new pretenses for revenue and taxation. It watches prosperity as its prey and permits none to escape without a tribute."
-- Thomas Paine
"At the last dim horizon, we search among ghostly errors of observations for landmarks that are scarcely more substantial. The search will continue. The urge is older than history. It is not satisfied and it will not be oppressed." -Edwin Hubble
“The tendency for entropy to increase in isolated systems is expressed in the second law of thermodynamics — perhaps the most pessimistic and amoral formulation in all human thought.” — Gregory Hill and Kerry Thornley, Principia Discordia (1965)
“Don't be vain because you happen to have talent. You are not responsible for that; it was not of your doing. What you do with your talent is what matters.”
-Pablo Casals
“A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.”
Winston Churchill
"The measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he never would be found out"
"Character is much easier kept than recovered."
"No change of circumstances can repair a defect of character."
“Talent hits a target no one else can hit; Genius hits a target no one else can see. Thus, the task is not so much to see what no one yet has seen, but to think what nobody yet has thought about that which everybody sees.”
― Arthur Schopenhauer

und the neck of him who does not desire her; on the contrary, she is so coy a beauty that even the man who sacrifices everything to her can still not be certain of her favors.”
― Arthur Schopenhauer
"My religion consists of a humble admiration of the illimitable superior spirit who reveals himself in the slight details we are able to perceive with our frail and feeble mind."
-Albert Einstein
"I live in that solitude which is painful in youth, but delicious in the years of maturity."
-Albert Einstein
“If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there.”
-Lewis Carroll
"I'm fighting for your honor; which is a lot more than you ever did."
-Prof Ruffis T Firefly
“Do not grow old, no matter how long you live. Never cease to stand like curious children before the Great Mystery into which we were born.”
― Albert Einstein
"We are in the position of a little child entering a huge library filled with books in many different languages. The child knows someone must have written those books. It does not know how. It does not understand the languages in which they are written. The child dimly suspects a mysterious order in the arrangement of the books but doesn't know what it is. That, it seems to me, is the attitude of even the most intelligent human being toward God. We see a universe marvelously arranged and obeying certain laws, but only dimly understand these laws. Our limited minds cannot grasp the mysterious force that moves the constellations.”
― Albert Einstein".
More about Jim:"Born in California and lived here all my life. I wound up on the flight deck of a WW2 vintage aircraft carrier during the Vietnam War. Since then I've either lived or worked in the path of some brush fire or forest fire until recently.
I have a great family and two successful kids that have a calming effect instead of being a source of worry. OK, they're young so I worry a little.
One of the most important lessons I've learned in the last ten years: Love can change bad behavior, anger encourages it.".
