Jim's Story

Life After graduating in 1960, I immediately joined the Air Force. Started attending Little Rock University while in the service and completed my education at the University of Cincinnati in 1967. I married my first wife in 1963 and over the next 17 years had three children (2 biological and one adopted). Marriage hit the rocks in 1980 and we divorced. I became a single parent of two teenage boys (my former wife moved back to Arkansas) and all hell broke loose. After struggling through their teenage years my sons eventually moved out of the house and I lived the life of a bachelor until 1992 when I fell in love again and married a fantastic woman. She had three teenage children so I got to go through the excitement of those years all over again. My professional life began as an Electrical Engineer in Ohio and after a few years I went into Hi-tech sales. I have been President of three companies and VP of Sales and Marketing for three others. In 1997 I sold a software company I started and swore I would never manage anything or anyone in my professional career again. I retired in January 2003. ck to work part time. I wanted to do something that really turned me on so I went back to school and became a Paramedic. In 2005 I took a position in the Emergency Room of our local hospital as an ER Tech in addition to my duties as a Paramedic with a local Emergency Response Service. In March of 2007 I re-invented my self as I took a position with of our local hospital as their Emergency Management Coordinator and later added the job of Safety Manager for our two hospitals. I used to be semi-retired but I found myself working 40+ hours a week. In April of 2010 I retired again and this time I think it will stick. I will be doing a lot of volunteer work but I think I am finally going to adjust to being a retiree. I live in Massachusetts; we have an empty nest and pretty much do what we please. My wife Carol and I love to travel. We have 9 grandchildren that take up a fair amount of our time. If any of the old classmates would like to write, please do. I was not a high profile guy in high school so I don't expect many classmates to remember me. I have enjoyed my life since 1960 and feel good about who I am and what I have accomplished. I hope you feel the same.
