Jim's Story
Life
I'm living in Texas now with my wife and best friend, Sarah (MHS '72), of 35 plus years. We have 3 children and 4 grandchildren living near us. I have recently finished my Masters of Education in Education Administration, and a one year principal internship. I'm looking forward to finding an assistant principal or principal position next school year (2008-09) and will be leading the math department this year to help develop a new curriculum and strategies to increase our state assessment scores.
We have been looking for older homes, somewhere between the 1860's and 1920's to restore, or property in an area that we can develop into a cabin retreat area and hopefully fulfill Sarah's dream of owning an historical or rustic bed & breakfast. We have looked in western NC, eastern TN, northwestern SC, as well as east Texas and OK. God will lead us where we need to go, and will provide a position for me and the correct element for Sarah's dream.
Sarah has been involved with a children's home in India, and has arranged for 72 children to have sponsors from our church that support these children monetarily and prayerfully. She was fortunate enough to go on a mission trip ...Expand for more
with 8 others from our church to visit the kids there. This was a true blessing to her, although her being that far away without me gave me a little anxiety. But I knew she was in God's hands and would be okay.
Through Sarah's activity with the children's home, I became involved in the dreams of the pastor that began the home and am now working with him to develop an international ministry based in India and the U.S. I have begun the process here in the U.S. of setting up the all the legal and financial networks that will be necessary for this charity.
Our two older kids, Michelle and Michael, who by the way were born in Bradenton, are both married and have two kids each of their own. Our youngest, Andrew was born in Iowa and is now a senior at Dallas Baptist University preparing for a career in youth ministry, and recently became engaged to a lovely young lady from Flower Mound, Texas, who is also a student at DBU.
I have to say we have been blessed in our lives together and look forward to the future we have ahead of us. We do not know where we will be led, with my new options in education, but we know that God will use us where He feels we will best be used.
