Jim's Story

Life After Highland I spent a year at University of Utah before serving in the Uruguay, Montevideo (spanish speaking) mission- '95-'97. I returned to the U majoring in civil engineering. A year later Michele Fagergren (former Highland classmate & swim team/water polo team member) and I were married, Aug. '98 Salt Lake Temple- 2 months after she graduated from the U (psych & fam rel/hum dev). We stayed in Utah a couple more years (she- working as child therapist at children's center, me with school), until our lives dramatically changed summer '00. I graduated (honors-bio maj, chem & spanish minors), our first son was born (Benjamin James), and we moved to Denver, CO for me to start medical school. 4 yrs later we're still in Denver and as bus...Expand for more
y as ever. I'm in the middle of an 8 yr combined MD/PhD program, 2nd counselor in bishopric, and trying to keep up with our now ~3 kids: Ben, Becca June born Dec 2001, and ?Clayton Jefferson? due next week (Aug 31, 2004). Michele takes care of our little family and just about everyone else we know, it seems. Life has been good (knock on wood) so far! School Highland was great. Lots of good times and learning experiences. I think my favorite teacher was Mr. Corsi, favorite year was senior yr. (they just kept getting better), favorite activity water polo. I still keep in touch with Matt Nelson, Jacob Croft, Kenny Yeates, Wyatt Dursteler, Suman Barua, Mark Biesinger, Lindsay Chatwin (Barua), and of course my wife Michele Fagergren (now Earl).
