Jim's Story
Life
Today, I am Pastoring the First Baptist Church of Pleasanton, Kansas. This is my first pastorate and I have served here for a little over 5 years. After graduation, I attended the Arlington Baptist College and I gratuated in '85 with a BA in Biblical Studies. I married a Kansas girl (Pam Peterson) in '83. We have been married now almost 19 years and we have 3 children. Our oldest son Josh is a Junior and he is very athletic (although he is only about 2 inches taller than I was). He is a tailback and defensive starter for his High school team the Jayhawks. We also have a son who is a freshman. It appears that he will get the height in the family and he is a cross-country runner. He just finished 7th in the Varsity League meet as a freshman. and she is in 6th grade and can't wait for cheerleading and Volleyball next year. We live in a rural community 1 hour south of Kansas City, where there is less than 10,000 in our county. We love the laid back lifestyle and the rolling hills (yes Kansas has hills) and the beautiful colors of the Maple trees in the Fall. My wife is a teacher in Pleasanton where she teaches Elementary music and Jr. High Language Arts. She is very creative and plays the piano. She also teaches the teens at our Church. I was a Youth Pastor for 12 years before God led me into the pastorate. We have lived in Michigan, and Florida as well as Texas and Kansas. God has blessed our family and we enjoy serving Him.
