On a warm summer night, August 24, 2001, David and I received a call for Whittier Presbyterian Hospital. They told David that his sister Terry was about to give birth and she requested for him to be called.

We saw Jewelianna for a short time that night. Later we found out that Terry and her family were on the run from the law. And the State took Jewelianna.
Three years later we found Jewel living in a group home in Riverside. David and I would visit Jewel twice a week till she was place with us.
