Jim's Story

Life After finishing high school I floated around from college to college then finally got a real job -- repairing punched-card equipment at IBM. Received my draft notice and finagled my way into the Air Force. While in England in the USAF I met my wife. I returned after about four years to IBM, worked there in midrange computer support until I retired in 1991. Still have the same wife -- just passed our 39th anniversary, one son, and one grandson (who of course is a genius and takes after his "BePa...Expand for more
w.") School Mrs. Smallwood (science, GP Jr High), Mr. Goldfinch (Latin, GPHS), and Dr. James B Furrh (choir, GPHS) were inspirations to me. College Attended several colleges. Most fun was Syracuse, where I was studying ways to appear like a beatnik. Spent lots of time listening to poetry, drinking hot apple cider, etc. Military What can I say? It's all still classified as far as I know. Guess I could say that I kept the Russians from attacking us -- must have worked since they never attacked....
