Jo's Story

Life Hey everyone! I hope everyone is doing well. It's hard to believe that it's been almost 30 years. Boy time flies. I am married (almost 26 years)and I have an awesome and wonderful husband. He isn't from around here but he has been in New Bern for 26 1/2 years so he is a New Bernian now lol. I have one son he is 24.My son is the most awesome blessing in my life because I have lost 2 children. He is the light of my life and I am very very proud to be his mom. I still live in New Bern. Lived in Arizona for 6 months back in 2003 and absolutely loved it. I am currently working at Bosch (BSH Home Appliance) I still live in James City.(Some things never change) I lost my dad in 1981 when I was expecting my son. My mom passed away in 1995. I think about everyone very often and wonder how everyone is and where and what they are doing. For those of you who remember my best friend...Sheri Davenport, you may not know that she passed away in 1983 and it totally devastated me and my life just hasn't been the same since. There are several people that I went to school with that I bump into from time to time and it is always nice to see them. I have been truly blessed throughout my life. I know most of you remember Beth Waters (Foley). (The way life works out is so strange)My niece who is a substitute for emotionally and mentally challanged children, teaches at Brinson Memorial and she and Beth have become best buds over the past 5 years. Beth not only takes care of emotionally and mentally challanged children, she also takes care of her mother-in-law who suffers from dementia. I commend her on her wonderful job that she does in both fields. Funny how life turns out huh? My neice has been studying to become a full fledged teacher and she has worked and studied so very very hard and she will complete her schooling in May 2007. She is my name sake and we almost didn't have her (meaning that she almost died when she was born). I am proud that she is my namesake and I am proud of th...Expand for more
e awesome job she has done with "HER KIDS" (as she would call them). I am so thankful for so very many things throughout my life and going to New Bern High (& all the other schools) was a blast of the past for me. I had alot of great times and I have alot of great memories. There were alot of awesome friends and teachers that I have always had fond memories of and I DO think of those days very often especially since (cough cough) I (we) are getting older. For those of you who remember Robbie Meadows (my old boyfriend)...Keep him in your prayers. Robbie has been wheel-chair bound for 20 years. He will probably never be able to walk due to a fall he sustained back in the 80's.I call him from time to time to check in on him to see how he is doing and he has great spirits. I haven't visited him in several years but I do plan on going to visit him soon and hopefully acquire some pictures of him to share. Oh yeah, for those of you who may not know, Jerry Monette has been our Sherrif for about 10 years (or more) and I am also proud of him and the commendable job he has done for Craven County. He is and has always been an awesome person. If anyone knows how to get up with Tina Sinclair, please let me know. I haven't talked to her in about 25 years and have been trying to find her. I heard about a year ago that Billie Ann Abbernathy passed away and I was heartbroken so for those of you who remember her, pray for her family also. Her brother Abby was in a terrible accident back in 1975 and survived but not sure what happened to him after that. I don't have much else to add except that I do hope to hear from some of you who remember me. Oh yeah, all of my sisters are still living here in New Bern also. They live in town. I have a nephew who recently graduated from Campbell University and is now working in a pharmacy lab on Trent Rd and is getting married soon! My other neice is at UNCW and other nephew is going to ECU. So proud of them all. Hope I didn't bore anyone to death!!!!
