Joan's Story
After I graduated, I went to CCNY, and during the fall semester of my sophomore year,my mother passed away. I graduated from the School of Education in 1974. Then I went to Teachers College at Columbia and graduated in 1976. The following September I got married, worked as a medical assistant while my husband finished his last year at St. Vladimir's Orthodox Seminary and was ordained a priest. alifornia where we were for 4 1/2 years in our second parish, which was a mission parish, and where I taught as an ESL teacher. Since then we've been in our third parish from 1983 to the present in Saratoga, CA. While we've been here we adopted two children from Lebanon; I've taught on and off; and have been a breast cancer survivor for 22 years come July, 2010. At the present I substitute teach and I am continuously very active in the life of the church. I have a very full and active life, definitely not boring.
