Joan's Story
Life
Writing this is something I wasn't really prepared to do. But, in a nutshell, here goes:
Let's see, my life hasn't quite turned out the way I thought it would. I would love to have been able to make a living as an employed artist, (or in that creative realm). My BIGGEST mistake/regret, back in Art & Desigh H.S., was NOT believing in myself enough to try for a scholarship. I didn't think I was good enough to achieve a "monumental" accomplishment, like a "scholarship". In those days, that was like "winning the lottery"; unreachable/unattainable..."that couldn't happen to me!!!" My parents (being of an older generation), did not really promote, encourage, nurture this endeavor...
And, unfortunately, due to our financial situation, a scholarship would've been the only way I could have attended a college and studied art. So, to this day; every day, I regret that I never got the chance to go to college. I know that my life would be so much different now. I am a self taught learner, who has a broad spectrum of experiences in my life. I would have to say that my best accomplishments are my two children, whom I love very muc...Expand for more
h and for whom I have sacrificed most of my life for. They are the most rewarding & fulfilling accomplishments I have been blessed with. My son (almost 20), a five year (malignant brain tumor) cancer survivor, was an honor student w/a 101 average, and a member of the National Honor Society in H.S. He currently attends Stony Brook University and is the Drum Major of their marching band. My daughter, (almost 16) is now an honor student in H.S.(and soon to be a member of the National Honor Society, as well). Well, that's my "mini-bio". One day I'd love to write a book about my complete life! Oh, and by the way, since Grandma Moses & I think I share the same birthday...NOT YEAR (!!) (sorry, you'll have to look up her biography!), I told my daughter that when I am in my 70's I HOPE to have the success with my art, like Grandma Moses did when her artwork finally came to fruition! As for the updated photo (with Drs. Michael Roizen and Mehmet Oz), I have been priveledged and blessed to work as a volunteer for Hay House Publishing on many occasions. Both of these doctors were even more endearing as well as enlightening in person!
