Joan's Story
What have I done? That could get some people in trouble! There could be some of you out there that are thinking just that about me..... Well, if we sat down and talked today, you wouldn't believe I'm the same Joan from the 70's.
Got married to fellow RHS person. That wasn't one of my better ideas! So then got divorced and kept the kids. 2 wonderful boys who are now 31 and 27 both soon to add a year to the number. Entered an even longer relationship without the marriage, it didn't work either but I kept the kid! Another boy. He's 17 now and attends RHS and is a great student. Plays varsity basketball and has a future in anything he puts his mind to. I also have a grand daughter from my oldest son. She just turned a year and is the apple of my eye! And sure enough, they have another one due in August,2008. My latest addition to my long list of teaching opportunities is teaching Parent Education to young parents. Yep....Expand for more
Lots of teen parents. Been doing this for almost 8 years now. I think it helped delay the grandma syndrome for awhile. Used to teach it at The Villa. That was a challenge and teaching at the Weld County Jail is an experience. There's always someone I know that is dressed in ORANGE! But I love my job. Very rewarding and I make my own hours. Don't have a cubicle to sit in all day. Work out of my car more or less. And right now, I have to run and go visit a couple of clients in Greeley. I've always got more to say. Lost mom in 2007, dad in 1998, little brother Jeff in 2002, an older brother,Mike, in 1991 and an older sister, Loralie way back in 1982. Still have 2 brothers and 1 sister and we are all 50 or older! Some folks think that our family is part of the local Nelson family but we aren't. Get this, my brothers are John, Paul, Mike and Jeff. 3 of those names are the same as the other Nelson clan. Later. Peace to all.
