Joan's Story
Life
well.... I am 48 and a bit wiser... I was in professional photography for 25 years and loved it. After retiring, yeah right!, I starting waiting tables at my favorite dining spot and as the fates would have it.... i now manage all seven locations and reall like what I do.
i moved to the Napa Valley six years ago with my husband, and daughters Caitlin who is 16 going on 30, and Rachel who is 10 goung on 16.
I have been married for 18 years and it has not been without it's ups and downs,, duhhhhhh.
life is good herein the land of grapes and as the fates would have it I don't drink. Hahahahahah./
What I would have given to live here 16 years ago...
I work so much there is very little time for anything else, but I still get to see old friends and that always makes my day. I am still in touch with some of the old friends but would like to be in touch with more.
Looking forward to the reunion.

Here is an update.... after a couple of really tough years I have the best news of all. I am a Grandmother to a beautiful little girl named Taylor Nichole Joan Toren. The biggest kids are in North Carolina and I was able to be there for Tay's birth on January 18 of this year.
I was able to stay a month with Caitie and Justin back there. Caitie will ...Expand for more
be coming home with Taylor next January as Justin will be doing a special ops assignment for Washington, DC.
This is going to be very strange having the kids back home and an infant... it has been a long time. I am so happy that the girls and I will be able to bond once more as with our loss, it has been tough.
Hope all of you are in good spirits and well.

Taylor is now 16 months and rules my world. It is a blessing to have her with us.
We have a new " daughter" , Samantha. She moved in with usat the beginning of the year. Her life at home was not working and I am hoping that she will have some stablility with me. I am a rather non-traditional mom, but I love my children. They get it real.
So far I have two very special girlsand I am so proud of all of them.
Still looking forward to the Mission Beach move in the next two years. Spend a bit of time there with marketing a childrens book about Mission Beach that was written and dedicated to Taylor before she was born. So far, and beyond my control the book has found itself to publishers, illistrators and all sorts of folks to help it become a reality.
Since being ill... life has taken many turns and all of them have been life changing.
By the way Jerry.... thank you.
Love to you all,
joani
