Joan's Story
Life
Hello, It's been 38 years since I have been in contact with anyone from our 1968 graduating class. So much has happened since this time. I had a great time after high school through the time I got married. Little did I know that these were the best years of my life.
I graduated from a small college in Illinois, married, now divorced and I have three grown children; one with a masters in Communication and my daughter is graduating this year with an Engineering Degree.
I use to work for McDonald's Corporation in OakBrook, Ill in the International Division. In 1997 they cutback, and I had to do a quick career change. I am currently Director of the Medical Staff Office in a hospital in Southern California.
I have two dogs; Bravo and Buddie and they are currenly my family. I am single, but OK with being single for now.
I would love to hear from anyone from our graduating class that may remember me. (I have included a current picture).
Frank Skidmore has been the best about communicating and keeping me in the loop as to what is going on. I did not attend the Reunion because the kids that I knew from school w...Expand for more
ere not attending.
Hope to hear from someone soon.

I look
School
I enjoyed high school alot, but I must admit that my memories are vague regarding alot of people. I remember faces, I remember teachers, but you have to remember, this was during the 60's and little did I know that I was growing up in a period where the civil rights movement was strong. This was my every day life. I did not realize this is actual history.
I remember not being a part of what was going on in school. I think I tried, but the divides were too strong. I remember having a few close friends in my own ethnic group, but this was life back in the 60's. To this day, I still separate myself because of the black/white issuses that were going on during this time.
I do not like what is going on today, but at least there has been improvement and acceptance of other races, and I blend in.
My daughter tell sme all the time that I should inter-racial date because there are not many available black men out there. To date, I have an issue, because of the way things were back then.
I have a good life and good friends.
