Joan's Story
I married DeJuan Jarrett in 1972 and continued my education with a degree from Berry College in 1974 in Elementary Education. I began teaching at Summerville Elementary that same year and taught there for 15 years. I earned a Master's Degree in Early Childhood from Berry in 1977. I completed my teaching career at Menlo Elementary, having taught there for 17 years. I retired in 2006, but have done several long-term subs. e was involved with high school and college rodeo at ABAC and UGA. My son Ryan now lives in OK. He is a professional cowboy. He also was involved in high school rodeo and chose to join the professional ranks instead of college. In 2005 he was the PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboy Assoiciation) All-Around cowboy. He was married in Dec. 2010 to Shy-Anne Bowden from OK. I am extremely proud of both of my children. Now that Im retired, I am involved with my church more, especially our community kitchen. I still like to cook!
