Joan's Story
Well I am not sure where to start. I felt like a misfit in school and bullied everyday so I tried to keep away from people. I didn't fit in with people because I was called many names, fat and ugly every day I heard that in school. After graduation I attended nursing school, LPN program at ACC in 1980-81. I worked in Home health nursing and Hospice until 1999. Then I shifted and went into counseling. I worked at Shelter Inc here in Alpena as a legal Domestic Violence Counselor until 1992. I then started a Domestic Violence Shelter in Alger County in the UP. I married and had my son in 1994. He had many health issues so Marquet (sp) took it over as a satalight office. I took care of my son and he was a full time job with all of his therapies. I became a Certified Christian Counselor from Livings Waters Bible School. am the author of "Lifes Little Cookbooks" 101 recipes Series. There are 7 books, Zucchine, Rhubarb, Berries, Peaches-pears, Apple (out of print now) Blueberry, Cherry. I became a celberty cook. author and did a couple of cooking shows where a few Food Network Chefs and cooks were filming also. I divorced. Then I became a Pastor. I minister to the homeless, drug addicts, the miss fits that people don't want around them. I love on them and show them they are special. I am looking for a building to place this Ministry called :Michaels Place" after my son who is awesome. I also am a Corridnator for Prison Fellowship Angle Tree. and networking for the State of Michigan. I also have a home business called "From Junkie to Funkie" wearable art. I LOVE LIFE. I also have a Inoperable Brain Tumor, and a Spinal Cord Injury and I am in a wheel Chair. God is so good, blessing to all of you. Joan Manning Bestwick.
