Joan's Story

After 3 years at Tufts I decamped for London where I lived for 4 years and entered my first (disastrous) marriage. Two daughters later and back in the US I started what was to become an art reproduction company, working with Museums and Cathedrals in the US and abroad to develop licensed sculptural reproductions. f my amazing mother during her decline. She died at 92, but only stopped walking three miles a day at 89. In 2006 I moved to the south of France near Carcassonne where I now live with my two wonderful hiking companions, shelties Rowan and Frodo, and a small visiting granddachshund, The art community here is vibrant and the weather superb. Gorgeous country, and GREAT MEDICAL CARE! Don't believe anything else. As for favorite teachers: Norman Schmid, despite the frequent terrors and tongue lashings. He instilled in me a fascination for history. I still remember Danny Bender in passionate political argument with him. I didn't have the guts to engage until later. One do over? Delay romantic entanglements and join the Peace Corps. Do something to change things. Look at Marty Eichelberger! I knew he was a nice guy, but turned out to be a world changer.
