JoAnn's Story
Life
I moved to Texas after HS to go to college and met my husband, Jody, here and stayed. We've been married 23 years. I have 2 boys, Jared (18) and Jacob (16). I manage the customer training department for Sabre Holdings, a travel services company, Travelocity is one of our business units. It is a great job and has allowed me to travel around the US, to Latin America and Europe. My husband is self-employed and I help him manage his business. All of this keeps me pretty busy.
College
I moved to Texas after graduation to go to college at West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas. I met my husband, Jody, there during freshman year. After freshman year, we moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I took some classes at the community college here but never finished my degree in Early Childhood Ed. ife is so busy, I don't know when I would find the time. Maybe someday I will!
Workplace
After moving to the DFW area, I worked in accounting for a couple of finance companies. I started working for American Airlines in the phone reservations department in 1989. The pay was barely minimum wage but I got travel privileges to fly standby for next to nothing. I moved over to their travel services business, Sabre, in 1990 and worked in several deparments there. Finally landing in the customer training department (not quite early childhood ed but close). I have been at Sabre 21 years now and manage the customer training department. My team develops training on our products and services for our travel agencies customers - classroom curricula, tutorials, etc. My job has allowed me to travel around the US/Canada, to Latin America and Europe both for business and personal.
