Joanne's Story
I met my husband, Joe, when we were both VISTA Volunteers at the Pittsburgh Architects Workshop. After that, we both went back to school. I got my BA in English from La Roche College and he got his first master's degree in public management At the Heinz School at CMU.
We're animal lovers. We have one 17-year-old cat now, but have had as many as 8 cats for several years. We also have 2 very neurotic rescue dogs. We couldn't love them more...Expand for more

Wedding Trivia: We were married in Palm Springs, CA, where Joe's family lived at the time, in the church Liberace attended. Stubby Kaye was a wedding guest--he was a friend of Joe's aunt. Cousin Leo volunteered to take the wedding photos. He started drinking before the wedding. I'm the white blur in the center of most of the photos. Fortunately, there were a few usable pictures. We've been married 30 years.
