Joanne's Story
Life
I attended LeMoyne School from 1952 to 1957 when I transferred to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School. Due to the fact that my father was professional Army, I transferred many times. My Freshman year was at Lakeview H.S. because my father was the R.O.T.C. Instructor but when he was sent to Viet Nam I was transferred to two other high schools. My father taught ROTC at Lane Tech, Lakeview, Von Steuben, Steinmetz, Senn and other high schools. He was on Channel 7 News for being a war hero. There was a book written by a correspondent from Chicago Tribune whose name is Arthur Veysey and the book is entitled "Death and the Jungle". It is a documentary about Viet Nam and my father is the entire 3rd chapter beginning on page 19. I am an R.N. and mother of ...Expand for more
7 children, grandmother of 11. I truly need bank financing at Christmas time!!! For twelve years I was a tutor for the Nursing Department at Elgin Community College which I have truly enjoyed. I would love to hear from all the friends that touched my heart during my growing years.
I am now retired and volunteer at the Elgin Police Dept. and my church. I love to travel, go fishing, gardening, and be with my friends. I have been to at least 24 states in the United States and have been to Austria and Italy in Europe. My best and most wonderful years were spent with my friends that I grew up with from LeMoyne School, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School, St. Sebastians H.S., Lakeview H.S., and Maine Township West H.S. Thank you all for the great memories.
