Joanne's Story
Life
It's a long story. I met a guy at LaMesa swimming pool when I was 13 years old and ended up having to get married 3 weeks before my 17th birthday. He was not the right guy for me, a non-catholic with lots of previous experience 3 years older than me. I managed to stick it out for 22 years because of my belief that marriage was supposed to be forever,even though he was a heavy drinker. I am very close to my 3 grown children and I have 5 grandchildren. I haven't had that much luck finding a guy right for me since. Workplace
After my divorce I went back to school at age 39 and became a technician that does cardiac ultrasound. It's provided me with a decent living and I have managed to save a little toward retirement and have a couple of rental houses in other states. If I would have started sooner I would have been a lot better off because I'm pretty frugal. I came back to California four years ago, after spending 12 years working in Florida,to work at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. I came back after it was too late to afford a house here unfortunately.
